Find a family you can share a meal with....Slow Cooker Thursday

Hello all! Sorry I missed the deals for yesterday. Been worried deeply for a friend of mine. She is 33 and has had two strokes in a week. In spite of the strokes, she is doing fairly well. She will have to relearn many things, but her speech is coming along well. If you could, please keep Carrie in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

Needless to say, blogging wasn't top on my priority list. If I randomly disappear, that is why. I've been doubling up my dinners and taking her family meals as well as spending time with her in the hospital. Who likes to cook in a time like this? Speaking of cooking, the slow cooker meal is listed at the bottom, of course. :) I encourage you to cook a meal for someone who could use one.

Cantonese Pork

I found this looks-too-good-to-be-true recipe from cdkitchen.com ...This seems too easy and sounds too good to be true. This will be my first time fixing this recipe.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 pound pork, cubed
1 green onion, sliced
4 ounces can mushrooms, drained
1 onion, sliced
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
8 ounces can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon vinegar

DIRECTIONS
*Place all ingredients in crockpot. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours. (My crockpot will probably only take 5 hours.)
*Serve over rice.

That recipe sounds delicious - and it's easy!
I'll pray for your friend Carrie. I have a friend who is a hospice nurse who had a stroke about that age. She is fully recovered! (Except for getting dizzy easily)

Love the recipe today! It looks really yummy.

I can't say that I have made a meal for a family in need, but I have cooked for the families at the Ronald McDonald House. :)

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I have not taken dinner to a family in a while. I should probably to it soon. By the time I get home and get our dinner made, it is later than most normal people like to eat :)

That has to be very hard on you and your friend...I will keep her in my prayers. You are a good friend!

2 days left in my give-a-way...check it out, it's a good smelling gift. :D

That is so scary, was she taking birth control? Stroke is one of the many side effects. Here is hoping that she will be better soon. So good of you to think of her family at this time.

I am the meal taker. When I hear of someone having a hard time I do not have words, but I sure can cook them a meal that hopefully says all that I cannot.

I think we all ought to pick someone that we know or even that we do not know real well that might be having a rough time and send them over some warm, delicious love. It sure makes both the giver and the recipients day!!!

I am not a good cook so its a blessing that I haven't! But I have taken others out to eat or brought groceries- I was once there myself so I can definitely relate.

Lots of prayers and warm, fuzzy vibes for your friend.

And, yes, in our local MOMS Club we bring meals to a mom after she delivers her baby.
