Redecorate in 2008 - Inexpensive Wall Art

Well, it's been a while since I posted "Redecorate in 2008"...figured it was time to get back in gear....especially since I have a whole house to decorate now. Gotta love moving!

I recently wondered on to a blog that just completely inspires me, Delightful Home. Needless to say, I'm a regular reader now. Ms. Tee's simple, elegant and fresh ideas are so very, well, delightful! Her post from Tuesday has me in search of blissful items that I can use in my office. This room is totally off limits to my hubby. I'm going to get the parson chair I've always wanted (he thinks they look like those shaggy dogs that have hair to the ground), lots of toile fabric (if I could find a toile parson chair that would be a bonus) and whatever other French Country piece that gets me excited.

I don't know about you, but when I'm in the market for wall art I never seem to find that certain piece that moves me. She suggests using nontraditional items. Some of her ideas include: towels, calendar photos, greeting cards, sheet music (LOVE this one...my Mom teaches piano), pressed flowers or fern leaves, just to name a few. The possibilities are virtually endless. Anything that you find can be hung on a wall.

Just lovely!

I'm inspired by this. I love the idea of finding an object that you're drawn to and then displaying it in your home. I mean, anyone can run to a local home store and purchase a one of a million piece of "art", but how many of us will think outside the box and snatch up the gorgeous antique book cover found at a garage sale and find a home for it on the mantle?

Do check out the other goodies Ms. Tee has on her blog. You'll be inspired!

Love this idea and love her blog!

I've been in a decorating rutt lately and needed some inspiration. Thanks so much! I have a ton of old coffee table books that have photos of landscapes that would work beautifully as wall art. I think I'm going to go look through those books now!

That's really sweet of you. Thanks! :)

You could combine this with your Christmas list by finding things that others love and making art out of it and then gifting it to them! Two birds, one stone plus it's a lot more personal. Now I'm inspired! :)

I love this post! I'm inspired now. Looking around the house for things that can be repurposed. I just may hit some garage sales soon and see what I find.

Love your blog!

ROTFL about what your husband thinks of parson chairs. I happen to love parson chairs myself. They are very elegant and simple. That's good you have a room you can decorate however you like. If I try to get too much of my style in the house my hubby complains. I guess I'm too girly! ;)
