Can I add this to my resume... (oh and Slow Cooking Thursday, too)

...multi-tasker. OR at least I like to think that what I'm doing could be classified as such.

Right now I'm facebooking, looking for a facebook addicts support group via google, writing this blog post, watching Craig Ferguson, watching Emeril Live, eating Skittles (my tongue is still raw from them yesterday), responding to emails from hilarious friends, doing laundry (well, the washer is really 'doing' the laundry at this very moment), searching Amazon for some fab deals, browsin' the web for other fab deals....

Does *thinking* about putting away the clean dishes count? If it does, I'm going to add that to the list and eating chips...I'm thinking about switching from Skittles to Lays chips right now.

Seriously, what is up with my junk food cravings lately. Uggghhh

Of course, the hubby and baby are knocked out cold in bed. I wonder if I'll ever out grow this night owl phase.

On with the show...

I'm beat from all this shopping! Let's move on to the food portion of the show...

Vegan (or not) Slow Cooker Potato Soup

I found this yummy makes-you-feel-good recipe at geekypoet.wordpress.com...

I am making this with whole milk (because I'm not a Vegan).
Another variation is to use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes, and use apple juice instead of broth.

4 Russet Potatoes (or equivalent of other kind of potato)
2 cups veggie broth (I use chicken broth)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 spring fresh rosemary, whole (remove stem before serving)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or unsweetened soy or rice milk or if you're like me whole milk)
salt and pepper
*I add chopped celery and parsley*

Peel the potatoes and cut into medium sized cubes. Place potato and broth into slow cooker and set on low. Add rosemary, 1 tsp salt, and fresh ground pepper. If the potatoes aren’t covered by the broth add a little more.

Cook all day on low (6 - 10 hours). Use an immersion blender to puree everything. You can also use a blender, but make sure not to fill it all the way or you’ll have a hot mess on your hands!

Add milk and puree some more. Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve topped with fresh chopped thyme and chives.

*I grade monterey jack cheese and sprinkle it on top.*

~*~GIVEAWAY~*~ $25 Gift Certificate to AllThingsRibbon.com

I recently received an email from Jen asking me if I'd be interested in reviewing her online store, All Things Ribbon. I'm all about anything having to do with ribbons (especially pink ones) so I jumped at the chance to browse around her shop. I fell in love instantly and offered to host a giveaway for her. Luckily, she was interested!

Jen graciously sent me 5 sets of absolutely adorable clips for my little Pumpkin Doodles to try...beautiful korkers and gorgeous classic bows which go with everything! (That's her, on the right, wearing one of the cute korker bows. It accessorized her fairy costume on Halloween - see yesterday's post.) She has somewhat thin hair and they stay put perfectly even when she tries to tug on them. Let me also say that the photos of on Jen's site do not do them justice. They are beyond gorgeous!

There are SO many to choose from. I honestly had no idea all the fun you could have with bows! Jen's options are limitless! Just to name a few, she has Polka Dot Hair Bows, Headbands, Mary Jane Headbands, Small Stack Hair Bows, Streamer Stacks, BIG Stacks, Newborn Bands. Oh and don't even get me started on these GORGEOUS dresses ... Megan's Dress Closet. I'm in love with way too many of them.

These would make the perfect birthday or Christmas gift. I've got to tell ya, I just LOVE it when someone gives my daughter hair accessories! It's SO fun having a girl! ;-)

SPECIAL OFFER: Jen is fabulous and has created a coupon code for all Pennies In My Pocket readers. Isn't that so wonderful?

Enter Coupon Code: pennies - receive 15% off on your ENTIRE order...includes the dresses as well!! Also, if you sign up for her nifty newsletter here, you'll receive the heads up on promotional offers and coupons exclusive to their mailing list customers!

1 Year Blog-iversary, Deals & Slow Cooking Thursday...

So, I didn't even realize that today was my one year blog-iversary until someone asked the other day. I had to look it up and then I saw that Oct 30, 2007 was my first entry. (And I said 'fabulous' back then, too. hehehe) I would have thrown a party had I realized this earlier. Shoot, I'm at 411 posts...I could have thrown many parties ... one at 100th post, 200th post, 300th post and 400th post. Oh well, I'll make it up on my 500th post. How about that?

Since I didn't have a party, please, have a FREE COFFEE and a 15% off coupon on me at Barnes & Noble. I've seen this around the blogworld, so maybe you've already indulged yourself. If not, hurry up...it expires this Friday. Click HERE for the coupons.
