Thank You's, Awards & Deals ...

I have such awesome readers. You all made me feel so much better yesterday. Thank you ALL for the well wishes and advice for taking care of myself and a sick babe. I love how I can just ask a question and get a ton of replies. :)

I can't even express how blessed I felt yesterday. Let me start by telling you about a post that I read by Rachel on 'selfless giving'. A friend of hers had brought her family dinner because her baby was sick and understood how much work that took. Love that. Well, my Aunt and Uncle brought over a plethora of goodies yesterday when I least expected it. Homemade chicken soup, crackers, croissants, juice, avocado (she knows I crave this when I'm sick) and even some fake limes....OK, the fake limes are for a glass container in my kitchen.

A meal you don't have to prepare is worth 16 times it's weight in gold when you're sick (and the baby, too.)

I'm happy to report that the baby is doing MUCH better. I'm kind of the same, but so much better now that the baby is almost back to her 100% self.

Some more THANK YOUs for some bloggers who have bestowed some wonderful awards to me. I'm horrible at posting awards and I'm trying to get better. :-) They sure make you feel nice.

Thank you Trish for this award... (oh and btw, she's today's featured blog on The Secret is in The Sauce!) **UPDATE** I just received this award again from fatgirlsskinny from Hello Skinny Jeans ... I feel SO loved! To translate the gift from Portuguese to English, it means: "This blog invests and believes, the proximity"[meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' -being close through proxy] Awwww! You're the bestest Trish!

Post this if/when you award this to others: "They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and friendship; they are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut or that they propagate?" Then let's try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to 8 bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this text."

So, here are my 8 bloggers who will receive this award from me:
Mari from My Little Corner of the World
MamaGeek from What Works For Us
Rachel from Huse Blog is it Anyway?
Tommie from Tuesday Update
"The Queen" (I'm calling her) from Tiaras & Tantrums
Heather from "This is the day..." Ps 118:24
Jyl from Mommy Gossip
Holly from Tropic of Mom

A few days ago I was awarded this lovely award by Tiaras & Tantrums - There's a cute Meme that goes with it, but I'm horrible and don't have enough time to fill it out. So, I'm just going to pass the award on to 7 other blogs that I love. This is HARD because I LOVE so many blogs out there!!

Julia from Hooked on Houses
Amy from The Motherload
Ms. Tee from Delightful Home
Tabitha from Fresh Mommy
Fifi from Fifi Flowers Design Decor
Mommy from Mommy Cracked
Melissa from The Inspired Room
Sandra from Diary of a SAHM (yes, I know, I can't count...this is hard to limit it to 7)

I'm going to have to award this again later because, like I mentioned, there are WAY more blogs that I love!

OK I have to post some Deals before I end this post ....

Thank you for the award, you're an angel :)

I love the portuguese one, I am portuguese so I read it and knew what it meant LOL

So good to hear that the baby is feeling better. Hope you get better FAST!

Congrats on the awards! Makes me want to get a blog and join in the fun! For now, I'll stick to just reading them. lol

As far as your Q of the D, I usually send a note in the mail. If it's just a simple thank you (like for someone who said something nice to me, etc) then I may make a phone call or email. Flowers are always nice to give, but pricey...although, you have some good deals on them! lol

Aw, thank you for the award! I am very honored that you thought of me. Thank you, made my day.

I usually thank people via a note. Or if I am really feeling grateful and nice, I would drop off some little thank you gift. The busier I get the harder it is for me to keep up with things and I feel less like I do enough to thank people. Good reminder for me to get my act together!

Thanks again, and Happy Day!

Melissa

You are too sweet...thanks so much for the award.

My answer for your question: Since I am a scrapbooker, I always have plenty of supplies on hand to make homemade cards. I love to make packs of cards as gifts, or just a special individual card to say thanks. I haven't stepped foot in a Hallmark store in years.

Glad to hear you and the baby are feeling better.

Thanks so much for the sweet award!
I normally try to thank people with a thank you card sent in the mail. :)

I'm glad you're feeling better!

OK... I didn't realize you were having a hard day yesterday. Now, I am extra happy we got you out to the twitter fest. Wasn't that fun? I had such a hard time getting off.

So... you are too cool to give me an award. I am sooooo behind on passing on the goods from a few of mine. I love getting them, so I need to give in return.

Hope today is a better day! You deserve it.

BTW: Thanks for your recent comment. Loved it. Also, my sis read them all and feels so much better. She is on the way to talk to her teacher as we speak :).

What a fun surprise! Thanks so much for the award, Melody. You totally made my day.

Glad you and baby are feeling better. That's the tough thing about motherhood--you don't really get a day off when you're sick, do you? You have to "power through." It's definitely not for wimps. I love how your aunt and uncle brought you all those goodies.

Thanks again! What a good blog-friend you are! -Julia :-)

Congratulations on your awards. You deserve them both! Thanks for being so sweet to pass one on to me!

Q of the D:

I try to find something very unique to the person and send it with a funny ''everyday'' card... I like more personal gifts then the generic.

Anonymous said...

Glad to hear you're feeling better! I would say depending on what that person did--if they gave a gift, a card--if they helped me out with something I may get a small gift.

I'm with gigela5 - depends on what it is. I am a fan of writing notes. Everyone loves to receive a nice handwritten note.

Glad to hear the baby is better. Hope you get well soon!

Oh and I love the travel discounts. I need a vacation!

The Grocery Game is really easy and fun! I love saving (who doesn't!) I have to put in about an hour or two of work on it every Sunday. But I am paid in my savings! I am only buying for me, hubby, and pets, no kids. So a family would have a much larger savings amount than me. It just takes getting the Sunday paper, clipping the coupons, using the grocery list from the website, and shopping. It is really a blast!

Wow, thanks for the quick reply, Janet! You're fast! I'm so going to have to check it out!!

Congrats on the awards! I too just love your blog...so many wonderful ideas and the question of the day has to one of my favorites. Great idea!

I like to send a handwritten note as well.

Congrats on your awards.
I like to say thank you in person or by sending a hand written note or if that is not possible, at the very least an e-mail

Melissa said...

I'm glad to hear your baby is doing much better, hopefully you'll be back to 100% soon, too! What a thoughtful aunt & uncle you have! As for the question, I will send a handwritten note or card to say thank-you.

Love reading your blog and glad you are feeling a bit better. WTG on the awards.

I like to find special, small meaningful gifts for thoughtful people. If I can't then I send a handwritten note.

I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling under the weather. Take care of yourself!

Congrats on your awards. I like to send a handwritten thank you note to those who have done something special. A cooked meal is so important to an ill mommy. That's huge in my book.

Amy said...

You're so sweet- thank you so much for my fancy award. I think it just twinkled at me- sparkly!

I really appreciate it- I hope you guys are feeling better soon. That stuff seems to be making its rounds this week. Everyone I know has it! Hang in there!!

We got a ton of clothes from my husband's sister's friend (who we barely know). I sent a card and a $20 gift card to Target. I figure I never could have gotten all those baby clothes for that.

Feel better soon!

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Hope you're feeling better. Pretty hard to feel bad, especially when there's a little one around. Yicks!!!
But what a sweet aunt and uncle.
I say a handwritten note speaks volumnes!

Aaaah I am glad Baby is feeling better and I hope you are on the mend as well my dear! Its no fun being sick but glad to hear you have been pampered!

When someone does something nice for me I always send a hand written thank you. I make or pick out a really nice blank card and really put thought into my words. I love getting mail so I make sure to mail it - even if its my neighbor! :o)

Have a great day!

First-glad you are feeling better....can you catch things through a laptop? I was sick as a dog yesterday! Feeling a wee bit better today.

Congrats on your bling bling! Thank you so much for thinking of me. I do appreciate it.

Huse Yo Mama said...

Thank you for thinking of me and awarding me! You're too sweet!

Answer to your question..usually a card. Depends on what they've done. Sometimes some goodies (brownies, cookies, etc). If someone watches my house or dog while I'm gone, I try to buy them a gift from wherever we have been.
