Vomitrocious & the Phat Friday Sale

Vomitrocious - It's one of those words that sticks to your vocabulary like a nasty piece of gum under a 3rd grader's chair. The kind of word that comes from a giddy Girls Weekend. I can't remember who spoke it into my existence. I believe it was Amy? Wendy, correct me if I'm wrong. (I know you're lurking.) I don't even remember what she was talking about when she said it. I immediately interrupted her and said, "Whaaaa did you just say??? VOMITROCIOUS??? Baaahhhhahahahahaaaaa!!" (I believe she stole it from Arthur. Oh the things our children are learning from PBS.)

After I snort laughed about 23 times, I started to use it whenever possible, giggling every time it hit air. It's one of those words that can be used for good or bad, kinda like...the word Fat/Phat or 'bad' (granted, only kids under 17 can use 'bad' or maybe they don't say that anymore?) Yeah, I'm getting old.) For SURE you don't think it's nearly as funny as I do. That's OK. I'm alright with that.

I'm easily amused, by the way. I know you figured that out.

Vomitrocious: (when used to denote badness) To excite nausea, revolting, exclamation of disgust
-- i.e. Trying to put on 'skinny' jeans after a Girls Weekend filled with eating all things salty and too much cheese cake is completely vomitrocious!
Vomitrocious: (when used to denote goodness) huge, enormous, immense, tremendous
-- i.e. That blogathon was vomitrociously out of control awesomeness!
(Yes, awesomeness IS a word, too.)

There, don't ever say I never taught you anything beyond valuable. ;-)

The cashmere sweater would be a nice present.... I would LOVE to buy the Red Bull, I was so addicted to those before I got preggo and since I am nursing I still can't have it, think of the caffiene high the baby would be on...I have an elliptical similar to that one and it is so VOMITROCIOUS how it never gets used!!!

I can probably use it in a sentence but I don't think I can pronounce it! My dogs generally turn any day into a vomitrocious day. I take that back--I don't think I can use it in a sentence either! haha

I don't even know if I use 'hella' right. I'm so old!

Brooke said...

Is it bad that I don't even have kids and I knew that vomitrocious came from Arthur?? I could even tell you which character. Wow, now that is vomitrocious!

Vomitrocious is so the new word for me - LOVING it! I see this word making an appearance in a near future post. :)

Here's my official answer:
It was vomitrocious when my dear husband caught a large turd in his hand when it fell out of the sweet boy's open diaper. AH!!!! He saved it from hitting the carpet so that's all that matters in my world.

With three middle school/high school boys...vomitrocious is now up on my white board for our home school word of the day! :)

You are a crack up! So funny! I love it when a night with the girls creates funny words like that. The only thing vomitrocious in my house is the rotten fruit in my fridge. I keep putting off cleaning it out! Yuck!

Fabulous shoes! I love the white ones. Just may have to pick up a pair!

I must say, those are some seriously awesome F.M.P.s, if ever I've seen any.

And you're a P.I.M.P. - so I'm fairly confident you know what that means. I may have to "accidentally" leave this post up for when Dear Hubby comes home.

You know the one problem though, he won't get past all the "vomitrocious" stuff. He'll be giving you a shout out snort for sure!

Thanks for the vocab lesson, lol, I am SUCH a word person. Now I have a vomitrocious word for you: pnuemonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
Yes, it is an actual english word and I will pronounce it for you next time we talk if you want :o)
It's a word I've known how to spell (hopefully I spelled it right) and say since I was like 8 yrs. old - used to be the longest word in the english language, don't know if it still is.
I do like the word vomitrocious though - even though the root word is VOMIT

That is so funny. My husband and I have tons of these kinds of words. We crack ourselves up. This one will come in handy when I hear something gross, I can say "I just had a little vomitrocious stuff come up in my mouth." :-)

Happy day,
Melissa
