Slow Cooking Thursday & Get going on the Christmas list...

I can't believe it's Thursday already! This week is flyin' by and I have a feeling the next one will, too. Still getting ready to host Thanksgiving for 25 people! Yikes!

I just took care of several Christmas gifts by purchasing $200 worth of Restaurant.com gift cards for folks on my list and for only $16!!! I forgot that you could get gift cards for the website. Makes it much easier because your recipients can pick the restaurants they want to go to. TODAY is the last day for 80% off (enter code SURPRISE at checkout.) If you have a few people on your list that you don't know what to get, click on over and take advantage of the 80% off. :-)

Here are a few free printables I just found for the kiddos...

Before I get to the FOOOOOD, here are some deals...

You may have seen Silver Jewelry Club's banners on my page. I have to tell you about it. Its not a gimmick...the jewelry IS free. All you pay is shipping. Orders cannot be combined, but the shipping is not expensive. One year, I purchased all my older nieces necklaces, pendants and rings. The jewelry is GORGEOUS and not 'cheapy' at all. They basically want to get the word out about their company and this is surely a fabulous way to do it. The pieces are only highlighted for a few minutes and then another item comes up. So, if you want it, you have to grab it. You'll be totally surprised by the quality... Jewelry For Free, Click HERE

Slow-Cooked Sweet 'n' Sour Pork

I found this recipe at allrecipes.com ...
INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
2 1/2 pounds boneless pork loin roast, cut into 1-inch strips
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 (20 ounce) can unsweetened pineapple chunks
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup cider vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
Hot cooked rice

DIRECTIONS
1. Place paprika in a large resealable plastic bag. Add pork, a few pieces at a time, and shake to coat. In a nonstick skillet, brown pork in oil in batches over medium-high heat. Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker.
2. Drain pineapple, reserving juice; refrigerate the pineapple. Add the pineapple juice, onion, green pepper, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and salt to slow cooker; mix well. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender.
3. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth; stir into pork mixture. Add pineapple. Cover and cook 30 minutes longer or until sauce is thickened. Serve over rice if desired.

Question of the Day
Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?

Oh yummy! That sounds good right now!
One of our traditions is that if my side of the family gathers for the day, my sisters and I work on Christmas cards together after the meal is all cleaned up. It's more fun to do together!

This is my first year hosting Thanksgiving and I am pretty excited! We will only have 14 but still! Hopefully it turns out good! Every Thanksgiving we go see a movie and we usually go to Kmart since it is the only place open! Just eating and hanging out with fam as well, of course. :)

Oh I love that recipe, thanks for reminding me haven't made it in a while :)
Great deals as always...

Thanksgiving traditions, just spending the day with family, food (lots of it) and fun!

Those are some great deals!

I guess there isn't really a specific thing about our Thanksgivings that considered a tradition. The family gets together and we have the typical turkey dinner. Still a lot of fun!

Holy cow woman I almost missed this. I just told my husband we can eat out again now! I was lucky to find alot of resturants where I live, not so lucky for family members though. Did find one for my parents hometown, but not that great.

But I forgot to go check for their winter home. Might find some better stuff there.
