Slow Cooking Thursday - Oct. 9th & Cash Back

I'm on a little adventure right now. I'll tell you more about it on Monday. Posting from my phone...technology can be a COOL thing, well, sometimes. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt. Like when you don't want to be contacted and there are 23,871 ways to be located or when your cell auto corrects your texts and uses the wrong words. Makes you look like you totally cannot spell nor speak correctly.

So, I'm on this adventure and won't be able to visit all my bloggy friends for a short while. Please, don't be a stranger though. I've been enjoying all the comments. Also, if you are not a blogger and would like to leave a comment you may do so. Just click on the 'comments' link at the bottom of the post and either pick anonymous or you can put your name in (you don't have to have a url.) I've gotten tons of emails from non-bloggers saying they couldn't leave a comment. Comments are so fun, aren't they?

Oh and the hubby is doing the garage sale all by himself this weekend. What a trooper, huh? I'm sure I'll have plenty to report about that. He's such a sweetheart. I told him to just get rid of everything. I don't even care how much stuff sells for.

French Dip

INGREDIENTS
4 pounds rump roast
1 (10.5 ounce) can beef broth
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
6 French rolls
2 tablespoons butter

DIRECTIONS
Trim excess fat from the rump roast, and place in a slow cooker. Add the beef broth, onion soup and beer. Cook on Low setting for 7 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Split French rolls, and spread with butter. Bake 10 minutes, or until heated through.
Slice the meat on the diagonal, and place on the rolls. Serve the sauce for dipping.

And now for the deals...

Instead of my traditional 'deals' I'm going to tell ya about Ebates.com. Basically, it's a site that has a list of over 900 online stores. Most of them major retailers. You sign up (super easy) and click on the store you want to make a purchase with. You get a rebate AKA cash back (percentages range) on your purchase and also get a referral rebate if you send a friend over and they make a purchase. It's totally legit and all the rage with online bargain hunters.

I did 90% of my Christmas shopping through Ebates last year. I received over $100 back in rebate monies! Wooohooo! That's not counting the sales I took advantage of at the online stores, too! Some of my cash back was from referrals. I have it set up to credit my Paypal account...can we say Ebay money? hehehe

Oh and if you click on the Ebates link that I have in this post, I'll get a referral credit if/when you sign up and make a purchase. You won't need to add my email address. I'm not posting this to get the credit (although it would be cool), I really just want to share the CASH BACK love! ;-)

Question of the Day
What form of modern technology is your favorite?

I would have to say the computer since I am on it so often. And it has opened up new worlds to me. Certainly not the cell phonee. Of course I do not own one. LOL

Computer for me, too. I use it in so many facets of life. I would be lost without it.

Can't wait to try that recipe!!

Ooooo...that's a tough one. Of course I love the computer because I can easily stay in touch with friends (and bloggy friends) and family regardless of where they are in the world. But I do love my ipod. Mostly because I can't live without music and I like not having to lug around a case of CDs everywhere I go.

Thanks for all the slow cooker recipe. I love using my Crockpot and I definitely need more than the two recipes I have!

Computer, I'd be lost without it!

So you've run away from your garage sale? Smart move!

Favorite technology? Of course the computer/internet. It'd change my life if I lived without it.

I am sorry ma'am, but you didn't turn in your excuse note ahead of time so we are going to have to reject this absence.

I love love love technology. I'm a total geek as you know. I was totally addicted to my blackberry, now its the Instinct and well I just don't know how I lived before having a smartphone.

I also could kiss whomever invented DVR. Life saver.

Oh and the internets. How could I live with out it?

First, I made this on Tuesday because I wanted something easy and ready for the fam, I wanted to watch the debate and not have to worry about dinner...OMGoodness it was delicious! So easy and now a family favorite for sure. Thank you!

Second, I would say the computer... I have learned so much.

I don't think that I have met a piece of modern technology that I don't like. Sometimes its a love/heat relationship but I still like it. i just want it to work all the time every time.

I'm loving my laptop and my Ipod...but really there isn't a piece of modern technology I don't at least like a little bit.

Michelle said...

When I didn't see you at the top of the SITs comment roll I was a little worried. :)

My favorite form of technology is the computer, but a close second is my flat iron! An unruly girls best friend.

Have a fun adventure!

Hi there! Thanks for the info on Ebates! Every little bit helps! I'm going to try your dip recipe this weekend!

Hope you're having fun on your little adventure! My favorite modern technology would probably be the laptop--that way I can watch tv and blog all at the same time!

My favorite form of technology? ONLY ONE? I'm a software engineer I CAN NOT PICK JUST ONE!

Okay, I pick the iPhone. I can do almost everything on it.

LOVE that recipe.

I love my cell-camera-phone. I do not always have my camera but I always have my phone. Lots of great memories caught that way.

DVR for sure! I never thought I could watch so many shows! Love it. And movies, my collection has grown tons thanks to my good buddy DVR. Thanks Dish Network! (Or whoever created this genius invention!)

laptop...couldn't live without it. Yeah, I could, but I wouldn't be very happy.

Oh my thats a good question.

I would say my DVR. I have so many shows I watch. I record on two different TV's.

Melodie said...

The internet is my favorite form of modern technology. My DVR comes in at a close second, but I really don't need it since I can download just about anything I've missed on TV from the internet.

I am also in love with the Internet. I have been since I bought my first computer in 1992 and spent endless hours on Prodigy using my pitiful 2400 bit/s dialup modem. I feel disconnected from the world when my cable modem goes down, even if it's only for five minutes. Oh, the panic!

Lavender n Lattés said...

I can't live without my computer, either... but I think its too cool to be able to go online with my cell phone - not just emails, but shopping or whatever!

I'll be using htis recipe... thanks!

The Internet (and the computer) are HUGE favorites of mine...as are cell phone, because I feel the need to be reachable in case something was wrong with my children. Other than that, I have no need for cell phone...except in case of an emergency. It brings peace of mind.

Caller ID is awesome too.

I think I could go on and on...

I am making the rump roast tonight! It was still frozen yesterday!
Will have to check out this eBates! as I usually do all xmas shopping online - I hate the crowds!
I cannot live w/o a computer!

My laptop for sure! But I really really want an iphone!!!

I'm so glad I found your blog! Happy SITS Day!

AFRo said...

Stopping in from SITS and I cannot help being a teeny bit jealous that your husband agreed to do a garage sale? On his own? Like with no help from you at all? That's highly impressive. Seriously.

Jacie said...

Yummy recipe. I'll have to try it.

Favorite technology-- cell phone.

Mmm, I haven't eaten beef in 11 years, but every once in a while I have a daydream about a nice French Dip sandwich.

Michelle said...

Interesting. I never would have thought that beer was the secret ingredient to a good French Dip. I may have to make that one time :)

Oh I am SO making French Dips via this recipe tomorrow! As for technology, computer, by far. I am at the point where I am asking Santa for a second monitor. My hubby has multiple screens at work and he raved once too often of the amazing benefits.
