Let me read my magazine while my slow cooker fixes dinner...

I just found a magazine deal on Amazon. Am I the only one who loves to receive magazines in the mail? It's like Christmas in my mailbox. I know, cheep thrills, but it's true. I've received them as gifts and I gotta tell you, it is the gift that keeps on giving all year long. Thinking I may need to go through the deals here and find some gifts for people...

Red Wine Turkey Thighs

I found this leave-some-wine-for-the-turkey recipe at Gourmet Momma.

INGREDIENTS
2lb-3lb turkey thighs, remove skin and excess fat (you really can use any part of the turkey)
1 cup dry red wine (or 1 cup chicken broth plus 1 Tbsp red-wine vinegar)
1 cup thinly sliced onions
2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp each dried rosemary, sage, thyme and salt
GRAVY: 3 Tbsp flour1/4 cup water

DIRECTIONS
1. Eight to 12 hours before cooking, put all except Gravy ingredients in a 3 1/2-qt or larger slow-cooker. Cover and refrigerate.
2. Cook on high 4 to 5 hours or on low 8 to 10 hours until turkey is tender.
3. Remove turkey thighs to cutting board and cover loosely with foil.
4. Gravy: Set cooker to high and cover. Whisk flour and water until well blended. Whisk into liquid in cooker. Cover and cook, stirring once, 15 minutes or until thickened.
5. To serve: Cut meat in large pieces from both sides of each thigh bone to give you 4 pieces. Arrange on serving plates; spoon on some gravy. Serve remaining gravy from a sauce boat

A long Sunday nap starts the week off right....and Menu Plan Monday

What is it about Sunday afternoons? Around 1pm sleep just hits me like a ton of bricks and if I don't take a nap, well, it's going to be a bad week. Usually, a one hour nap does it (during Pumpkin Doodles' nap), but this time I took a 3 1/2 hour nap and if it weren't for my husband egging the baby on to wake me up, I'm sure I would have slept until morning.

Ahhhhh I love naps. This is going to be a good week.

Before I get to the menu for the week, here are some deals...

4-for-3 Deals ...

Teresa had emailed me mentioning she wasn't sure how to take advantage of the 4-for-3 Deals at Amazon. She had purchased the towels I had posted in last week's Friday Sale. She ended up getting 4 sets in order to take advantage of the deal, but wanted to know how to combine other eligible items.

While browsing Amazon to get all the info, I noticed the 4-for-3 Book Deals ...they get me all excited! I've purchased plenty of books for my daughter's little library through this sale. I just wish I could say that I have a library of my own. To be honest, I'm not a huge reader. I'm more of a magazine and catalog reader. har har! I'm trying though. If anyone has any suggestions for some easy, fun reading that isn't for ages 6m-2yr, just let me know! :-)

OK, so back to helping Teresa out. I get so side-tracked, I know. The offer extends to combined orders with eligible Books, DVDs, Magazines, Home & Garden items. Just click HERE for more info.

multiples magazine

I'm going to re-post this one, just because I'm a proud parent. :-) I posted it a while back. This would make a wonderful gift for any parents of multiples. The winter issue is available for only $1.75 and a year subscription is only $5!! Can't beat that!!

I have a fabulous gift idea for the family on your list that has twins,
triplets, quads or more! Multiples Magazine is getting ready to kick off their first
issue next month and a year subscription is only $5.00! The HUGE bonus to this
magazine is that my darling daughter will be in it! She's not from a multiple
birth, but was in the NICU and there will be an article addressing what to
expect if your little bundle of joy has to stay in Hotel Le NICU. We can't wait
to see her photo in it ...

a gift for the family of multiples

I LOVE magazine subscriptions! My Aunt renews my Architectural Digest subscription she gave me years ago and I look forward my nice thick magazine of decorating ideas each month.
